What does Homer Simpson have to offer email marketers?
“You can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that!”
This is one of my favourite quotes from The Simpsons and it always gives me a good chuckle. Partly because I think it’s true. We live in the information age and you never have to look far to find numbers, statistics and charts on all sorts of topics.
But this doesn’t mean statistics is the enemy. If you filter through all the noise, the right type of statistics help provide insight and a better understanding of your own activities.
Here at Vision6 we’ve just published our latest Email Marketing Metrics Report for H2 2010. If you’re a marketer or business owner looking to gain a better insight into email marketing and how you compare to others in your industry, then definitely check it out.
In addition to the most common email metrics like opens and click rates, you’ll also find insight into what’s happening in the email marketing world.
Summary findings include:
- Small recipient lists continue to outperform large recipient lists.
- Bounce rates have steadied following a long period of decline.
- People use a variety of email clients to read emails, including mobile devices.
