A friendly message from the Logan City Mayor Pam Parker

It's time to celebrate as Logan turns 30!
You know what they say - time flies when you are having fun!
It is hard to believe Logan is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. As a community we have seen so many changes and achieved so much that many could be forgiven for assuming we are a lot older than our tender 30 years.
When the first Logan Shire local government elections were held in March 1979, who could have predicted the hurdles we as a community would encounter and overcome on our rapid rise to prominence as one of Queensland and Australia's largest council areas?
I take my hat off to the founding members of the Council, both staff and elected members, who put in the hard yards and showed immense vision to make the tough decisions that we continue to reap the benefits of.
But like so many in our community, Council rises to a challenge and we are extremely proud of where we as a city are situated and what the future holds for our residents and businesses.
And as we all know, in Logan we do not do things by halves so on Saturday we will not only be celebrating our 30th birthday, but also our first anniversary as the new Logan following the March 2008 local government reform.
And what better place to celebrate these milestones than at our international-standard Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre? The jewel in Council's sporting facilities crown, the $17 million complex was recently unveiled and is further proof Logan is leading the way in delivering a lifestyle we all want to share in.
I encourage each and every resident to come along and celebrate not only what we have achieved as a city, but rejoice in the fact we call one of Queensland and Australia's most liveable cities home.
Hope to see you all there.
Pam Parker
Your Mayor of Logan City
