Strict control maintained for rack access at Polaris

Access to the Queensland Government client servers in the Polaris Data Centre at Springfield will be carefully managed using a computer controlled central locking mechanism for individual racks and a 24-hour purpose-built CCTV surveillance system.

Changes to the Peer Review Terms of Reference and Guidelines

Important amendments to the Peer Review Terms of Reference were recently approved to reflect current progress in delivery of the Government's technology consolidation agenda.


The changes ensure government agency investment in ICT technologies continues to be aligned to the broader whole-of-Government consolidation direction as it is implemented.

Longhaus awarded rights to government technology information

The Queensland Government Chief Information Office (QGCIO) has finalised an agreement with IT research firm Longhaus which provides analysis and reports for the ICT industry from the annual ICT Baseline data collection.


In a first for Australia, the Queensland Government has awarded Longhaus with the commercialised rights to enable industry access to information about the Government's current and potential technology spending.

Whole-of-Government ICT projects funding program announces new projects

The program team working on the ICT Innovation Fund and Microsoft Services Provision Fund met with agencies in February to identify opportunities to fund compelling ICT projects using Microsoft-based technology.


As a result, four new projects were recently granted funding by the ICT Innovation Fund and Microsoft Program.

Update on tenders for the Government's ICT foundation infrastructure

The Queensland Government's three tenders for the procurement of the foundation infrastructure goods and services for its technology consolidation reform agenda closed in March 2009. The tender evaluation process is now well underway.
