Mayor Pam ParkerA friendly message from the Logan City Mayor Pam Parker

Logan City is celebrating two very special birthdays in 2009 which show how far the community has come in recent years.

While Council and the Logan community have been heavily focused on issues associated with our expanded boundaries over the past year, many people may not be aware the city is turning 30 this year.

The local government elections of 1979 took place in March, with the first council meeting held on 17 April 1979.

Similarly, the current Logan City was formed on 15 March 2008 after the state government introduced Local Government Boundary Reform process in 2007. Now the city incorporates 265,000 residents from 63 suburbs, including areas formerly part of Gold Coast City and the former Beaudesert Shire.

So, one year on, and also 30 years on, I thank you for being part of Logan. We are in an enviable location at the heart of South East Queensland and will continue to grow into the future.

Pam Parker
Your Mayor of Logan City
