Running events

From Monday 30 June 2008 Queensland will be declared free of equine influenza.

The Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) must receive notification of all horse events held in Queensland.

Event means activity involving animals of the family Equidae, including, for example, a horse race, a horse sale, a horseshow or gathering of horses for competition.

Event organisers are encouraged to allow all horses to attend events regardless of the horses' status as susceptible, recovered, or vaccinated. The Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries does not restrict horses' attendance at events based on their equine influenza (EI) immune status.
