I guess I am here today to put forward a message that I believe is the most critical thing we need to tell you.
We, as horse owners, have an obligation to find information on the internet, or through the newspapers, about EI. You cannot sit there and wait for someone to deliver this to your doorstep. We have a responsibility to help eradicating EI. We play a part in this.
Our actions, ultimately, are going to affect the chance we have in eradicating EI, so we are going to give you some dressage marks. If you come home after going shopping and you only wash your hands, I might give you a four. If you go and have a shower and change your clothes, we could move you to a seven. If you come home, have a shower , shampoo your hair, change your clothes, hats and boots, we're going to give you a ten. So ten is possible and that is what we need to help eradicating EI.
We need to play our part; we need to pull together as an industry. You need to go home; you need to send an e-mail to every single contact, ring your friends and tell them. We can eradicate EI. You need to take all precautionary steps of decontamination when you leave and enter your properties.
Thank you.
