The 2008 Lavazza Italian Film Festival is a seductive blend of old and new with 25 films showcasing the best in contemporary Italian cinema, plus an amazing Retrospective of 12 movies representing Italy’s finest celluloid moments of the last four decades.
Opening this year’s festival will be Paolo Virzi’s Her Whole Life Ahead, hailed as one of the best Italian comedies of recent times. Other highlights include Paolo Sorrentino’s witty political expose Il Divo, Andrea Molaioli’s beguiling thriller The Girl by the Lake and Andrea Porporati’s revealing Mafia portrait Sweet and the Bitter.
The 2008 Retrospective will feature such cinematic gems as Fellini’s Amarcord (1974), De Sica’s Marriage Italian-Style (1964) and Rosi’s Three Brothers (1981).
