

Simon Portus was born in Sydney, Australia in 1973. He completed a BA majoring in Film and Theatre at the University of New South Wales in 2000.
His award winning short film Adrift was funded by the NSW Film and Television Office's Young Filmmakers Fund in 2005. Adrift premiered at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy Awards in 2006. It sold to ABC television and has worldwide distribution with Ouat Media Canada. His most recent short film Tomorrow was funded by Screen Australia and will head for festivals in 2009.
Simon is currently developing several feature screenplays with David Curzon, the producer/editor of Adrift and Tomorrow. Loveless, an endearing comedy, has been funded for development through Screen Australia's Indivision Program and participated in the Indivision Project Lab in December 2008. Dog Eat Dog, a comedic thriller, participated in Keep Your Wits About You in November 2008, a concept development workshop with Screen Australia, Madman and Warp X films.
Simon lives on the Mid-North Coast of NSW with his partner and three children.
