In the world of fast emerging technologies it is sometimes forgotten that the trusty ol’ email newsletter can be a powerful marketing and communications tool. They are a regular reminder to your customers about you, your products and they can help build relationships.

We recently made-over our own newsletter, which had me stepping back and really looking at the basics of effective email newsletters. Just like a newsletter should be, I will keep this blog post short and relevant.

Below are my top tips when planning your own email newsletters.

  • Long essay type newsletters are definitely OUT and short, sharp and relevant is IN. People are time poor so there’s no need to spend hours creating some massive perfectly formatted essay to send out to your email subscribers every week or month.
  • Use uncluttered easy-to-read paragraphs.
  • Remember that, like a website, a newsletter can and must evolve. As you test and learn you can change things for better results.
  • Remain focused on subscribers.
